MIAMI, FL (February 9,  2015) – The local rock music scene will  be amplified when the four-day  South Florida Rock Showdown takes place from March 10th until March 14th at various club venues throughout South Florida.  All local, unsigned rock bands with three or more members, who are 18 or older, and play original music with vocals, can enter the contest online for free by February 22.  South Florida Rock Showdown

Event producer, Circo Massimo Entertainment, along with industry guest judges will select the 12 best entrants to compete in a round of semifinals from March 10-12, culminating in the final round on March 13.  Enrico Carducci, the company’s founder, is a former Italian rock musician who conceived of the idea for the rock showdown shortly after relocating to Miami from Rome.  He has been producing events in South Florida since 2008 and was recently honored by the City of Miami and the Consul General of Italy in Miami for his annual production of the Gran Fondo Miami bicycle event.

Carducci explained, “Rock music is my first love and I understand that the costs of recording can be astronomical, especially when you’re sometimes not even getting paid for gigs.” He added, “I wanted to generate additional excitement for the local rock music scene and give bands another opportunity for free exposure that could lead to national recognition.”

Bands can visit www.southfloridarockshowdown.com to complete the simple entry form that requires a short bio and photos and links to their original music at sites, such as ReverbNation, Facebook and YouTube.  Entries made after February 22 will require a $100 late registration fee.

Milan, Italy-based Tribe Guitars has signed on as the presenting sponsor for this year’s Rock Showdown.  Founder and Master Luthier, Davide Garbujo, is a world-renowned artisan that has made custom guitars for all of Italy’s most well-known rock musicians and will gift the Best Guitarist with  a handcrafted Nashville model guitar.  The handcrafted detail in this exquisite model, made of steel and maple, along with its tonal balance, make the instrument a flagship piece for Tribe Guitars.

The winning band’s three-song EP will be recorded at Grammy-nominated, Miami-based Vanquish Studios, South Florida’s most advanced, state-of-the-art private recording studio with Joseph Salamida, CEO, Founder, Engineer and Producer.  Vanquish was chosen by Mix Magazine in 2009 as one of the “Year’s Coolest New Studios.” http://www.vanquishstudios.com.

Rock Showdown has also confirmed that nationally recognized Mixing / Recording Engineer and Studio Design Consultant Matt Knobel will mix the winning band’s EP.   Knobel set up rock legend Lenny Kravitz’s state-of-the-art private recording studio, guiding his equipment selections with his expertise on digital, high-tech gear that helpd Kravitz amp up his sound to a new level.  Their 10-year collaboration encompassed four consecutive Grammy Awards for Kravitz for Best Male Vocal Performance in the Rock category, as well as over 20 million global sales of Kravitz albums.  Knobel’s involvement boosts the winning band’s chances of garnering national recognition for their EP.

Grammy-nominee Emily B. Lazar, president and chief mastering engineer of The Lodge in New York City will serve as Mastering Engineer for the winning band’s EP.  She has worked on over 2,000 albums with major rock icons, including David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Lou Reed, Paul McCartney, Morrissey and Sonic Youth.

The 12 finalists will all benefit from the Showdown’s marketing and publicity, including promotion across social media using hashtags #TheSFRS, #SFRS2015 and #RockShowdown.  The winner, however, will also receive professional promotional benefits to include a set of professional photographs taken during their studio recording session, a professional video and photos of their performance  and graphic design services for their EP packaging and a $500 gift card from Sam Ash.
